Another Cockpit Revolution

Flight crews typically wary of any tinkering with their familiar cockpit are gradually, but not universally, adjusting to cathode ray tube displays. They haven't seen anything yet. Another technical revolution is cooking in the laboratories that promises drastic change well beyond the instrument panel itself.

USSR MISSILE CONCEALMENT

Soviet Ability to Fire Through Ice Creates New SLBM Basing Mode

Washington—The Soviet Union has developed the ability to fire submarinelaunched ballistic missiles through the Arctic ice cap. This new capability enables Soviet missile-firing submarines to escape detection by hiding under the north polar ice where the U. S. has little or no ability to detect and counter them.
