Traffic Growth in Europe, Atlantic Spurs World Airline Profits in 1984

Brussels—World airlines have posted an estimated net profit of more than $1 billion for 1984, which would be their first net profit since 1979, and an operating profit of about $3.5 billion. The profits came from growth of nearly 9% in passenger traffic and 14% in cargo.

Crisis Without a Cause—a Champion Needed

Most of us in the aerospace business must serve both our commercial customers and the Defense Dept. The two being very different, any failure to realize that and make the proper adjustments affects our relationships with both. Because the taxpayers end up paying a substantial amount of our overhead costs, they are understandably sensitive to expenditures that are presented as being unnecessary or significantly high.
