T-46A—Dead or Alive?

The House of Representatives action last week to add $151 million to the Fiscal 1987 Defense budget for continuation of the USAF/Fairchild Republic T-46A trainer program makes political points in certain hometown constituencies, but it does little to either repair the strained relationship between the Air Force and Fairchild or revive the development of what everyone agrees is a sorely needed aircraft.
