Orlando—Quiet Nacelle Corp. of Miami has been awarded a supplemental type certificate for its noise-reduction nacelle for the McDonnell Douglas DC-8-50/61 aircraft, clearing the way to begin installation of the nacelle on 40 aircraft that have contracted for the hush-kit modification.

Antiquated Rules of Engagement

The attack on the USS Stark in the Persian Gulf by an Iraqi air force Mirage F1 has underscored once again the dangers faced by U. S. military personnel, even in the peacetime execution of U. S. foreign policy. It also is a reminder that advanced technology by itself provides no guarantees of safety if the guidelines are not in place to use that technology effectively.
