Congress Passes Space Council, Launch Insurance Legislation
WASHINGTON Congress, before adjourning, approved space legislation aimed at improving the U. S. posture in several areas, including the policy-making apparatus and insurance requirements for commercial launchers. A National Space Council would be re-established in early 1989 and insurance requirements for the commercial launch industry would be eased under the new legislation, which had not yet been signed into law by President Reagan as of late last week.
