Navy Terminates $328.8 Million in V-22 Advance Production Contracts
WASHINGTON The Navy canceled $328.8 million in V-22 tilt-rotor aircraft advance production contracts under Pentagon orders that lay the foundation for a confrontation with Congress next spring. The contracts were issued early this year by Naval Air Systems Command to the team of Bell Helicopter Textron and Boeing Helicopters, which is developing the aircraft, and General Motors Corp.’s Allison Gas Turbine Div., whose T406-AD-400 engine powers it.
