WASHINGTON Satellite broadcast and aeronautics interests are in a high-stakes competition before the U. S. Federal Communications Commission for control of radio frequencies currently used to conduct flight tests of aircraft and missiles. A satellite broadcasting application submitted to the commission seeks authority to use nearly three-fourths of Lband frequencies that have been dedicated since 1958 to flight test telemetry.

Banks Give McDonnell Douglas $750-Million Line of Credit

NEW YORK Seven major banks last week extended a one-year $750-million line of credit to McDonnell Douglas Corp. for 1991 working capital. The pre-approved loan will provide the company with the “flexibility” it will need until enough $ 100-million MD-11s are delivered to begin generating a large and steady cash flow toward the end of 1991, chief financial officer Herbert Lanese said.

USAF Investigators Say Inadvertent Thrust Reversal Caused C-5 Crash

WASHINGTON U.S. Air Force investigators have determined the “uncommanded and inadvertent” deployment of an engine thrust reverser during takeoff probably caused the Aug. 29 crash of a C-5 at Ramstein AB, Germany. Analysis of the wreckage showed “four fully extended TR [thrust reverser] actuators” in the impact area of the No. 1 and 2 engines, the report said.
