Pratt Defines Development Path For F100 Fighter Engine Family
NEw YORK Pratt & Whitney has defined a development path for the F100 family that could boost the power of production engines from the current 29,000-lb.-thrust of the F100-229 to around 35,000 lb. by the mid-1990s. Pratt expects to begin ground design verification tests of the 35,000-lb.-thrust engine, known as the IPE-94, next month at its West Palm Beach, Fla., facility.
