EUROPEAN SPACE UNITS TO MERGE

PARIS The French-British Matra Marconi Space company will acquire British Aerospace Space Systems for 56 million pounds ($87 million). The agreement was concluded last week by Lagardere Groupe and GEC Marconi top officials after long, complex negotiations initiated in 1991.

TAILPIPE COATING PROBLEM SLIPS B-2 DELIVERY TO AUGUST

WASHINGTON Resolution of a low-observable anomaly in engine tailpipe sections will delay delivery of the second operational Northrop Grumman B-2 bomber to Whiteman AFB, Mo., until late August. Originally, the reworked tailpipes were to be installed and tested in July.
