LOCKHEED SAYS DELAY WOULD HIKE F-22 COST
WASHINGTON Reacting to an unexpected Pentagon budget review request, the head of the Lockheed Boeing F-22 program team said there would be no benefits to delaying Air Force F-22 fighter procurement. "The only thing that happens is the cost goes up," Lockheed Vice President Gary Riley said in a interview with Aviation Week Group editors.

LOS ANGELES The Galileo spacecraft took this sequence of images on July 22 of comet Shoemaker-Levy 9's fragment W hitting Jupiter. Galileo was the only sensor in position to see the fragments as they hit the far side of the planet—Earthbound views only saw the resulting fireballs as they rotated into position.
