Tighter Sanctions Urged Against Iraqi Smuggling
WASHINGTON The the head Persian of U.S. Gulf military is pressing forces for in tighter enforcement of international sanctions against Iraq, but Congress is worried the latest U.N./Iraq accord will weaken the sanctions instead. Gen. Anthony C. Zinni, commanderin-chief of the U.S. Central Command (Middle East and Persian Gulf), informed a Senate panel last week that smuggling in and out of Iraq is on the rise.
