NASDA Completes H-2A Design, Begins Assembly

TOKYO SAN FRANCISCO Japan’s National Space Development Agency and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries have completed the detailed design of the first H-2A improved launch vehicle and begun assembly of the first vehicle. The redesign effort is aimed at transforming the H-2, Japan’s Ariane 4-class main launch vehicle, into a family of vehicles to improve payload performance and drastically cut program and operational costs.

Boeing Commits Funds To Delta 4 Pad Facility

Cape Canaveral Boeing will pour $250 million into development of a 130acre launch pad facility at Cape Canaveral for its Delta 4 evolved expendable launch vehicle (EELV) set for first launch in 2001. The facility at Launch Complex 37 was originally used 30 years ago for Saturn 1 vehicles.
