Aviation Panel Presses FAA On Stars Deployment, Cost

WASHINGTON The development and deployment schedules of the FAA’s Stars program remain at risk and the cost continues to increase, according to FAA and Transportation Dept. officials. Underscoring the urgency of getting the system deployed on schedule, Rep. John Mica (R-Fla.), the chairman of the House Transportation aviation subcommittee, said his panel will conduct hearings every few months on the Stars (Standard Terminal Automation Replacement System) program until software development is finished and it's clear the system can Work successfully.
