France Oks Naval Cruise Missile
PARIS France will join a select group of nations, including the U.S. and Russia, that possess a home-grown naval cruise missile capability, following issuance of a full-scale development contract last week. The naval weapon, derived from the Scalp/Storm Shadow air-launched cruise missile developed by MBDA for France and the U.K., will be in the 1,000-km.-plus class, permitting high-precision, deep-penetration strikes against land targets.
