Naval Rafales Headed for Afghanistan
PARIS France plans to send a pair of naval Rafale F2 strike fighters to Afghanistan to help bolster its forces there. French defense officials say the two carrier-based F2s, equipped with Paveway smart bombs, will likely join a Franco-Spanish task force that’s expected to set sail for the Arabian Sea in February to provide added ground cover to NATO and U.S. forces-particularly in the southern part of Afghanistan.
