OMAHA, NEB. The U.S. Air Force is planning to procure a single satellite to collect overhead imagery of the Middle East through its new Operationally Responsive Space (ORS) office. The requirement is an “urgent need" for commanders in the field at U.S. Central Command, which oversees military operations in the Middle East and Afghanistan, says Gary Payton, deputy undersecretary of the Air Force for space.
