Recorders Recovered
LONDON he prospects for unraveling the cause of the crash of Air France Flight 447 have sharply increased now that accident investigators have recovered both the flight data and cockpit voice recorders for the lost Airbus A330-200. After painstaking and often frustrating searches following the June 1, 2009, crash of the airliner on its flight from Rio de Janeiro to Paris, the French air accident investigation office (BEA) on May 1 was able to recover the crash-survivable memory unit belonging to the flight data recorder and then, a day later, the cockpit voice recorder.
