Navy to Select Hornet 2000 Design By End of January

WASHINGTON The Navy will select one of four basic design options for a McDonnell Douglas F/A-18 Hornet 2000 upgrade program by the end of the month, according to Defense Dept, officials. Deputy Secretary of Defense William H. Taft, 4th, asked the Secretary of the Navy and the Chief of Naval Operations to make a preliminary selection so that the U. S. will have a firm plan to present to European officials next month.
