They are sounding a strident announcement that the Big Job—the Boeing YB-52 Stratofortress is just about to take the air again in another test flight.

Lovett Lambastes Campbell Proposal

Blunt military rejection of the aircraft procurement recommendations of W. L. Campbell, acting chairman of the Aircraft Production Board, was forecast last week by Defense Secretary Robert Lovett. At his bi-weekly press conference Lovett lambasted the Campbell recommendations as unworkable and unrealistic.

Atomic Carrier for Navy Slated for ’57

The Navy’s first atomic-powered aircraft carrier is scheduled for completion by the middle of 1957 if all goes well. The first hurdle will be formal approval for the project from the Joint Chiefs of Staff and Congress.
