Usaf Studying Space Tool Development

Dayton, Ohio—Development of tools for the maintenance, repair and assembly of spacecraft will depend largely on the use of test beds in space to define problem areas. In the absence, at present, of operational test beds such as the manned orbiting laboratory (MOL), Air Force is examining general concepts, techniques and tools to accomplish maintenance on representative subsystems in space without designing equipment to maintain a specific system.
