Courbevoie, France—If the government’s approval is given in the next year or so for the proposed Super Diamant booster, France will have before 1970 a national satellite launch vehicle capable of putting payloads as heavy as 440 lb. into 310-930-mi. elliptical orbits.

Successful flight tests of key elements of the Integrated Helicopter Avionics System (IHAS) are paving the way for the application of the system in the Army’s new armed helicopter, the Advanced Aerial Fire Support System (AAFSS). Tests of the self-contained navigation portion of the Integrated Helicopter Avionics System (IHAS) are confirming Army and Navy expectations that the system will provide military helicopters and other VTOLs with an order of magnitude improvement in navigational performance.

Cairo—United Arab Republic, which turned to the Soviet Union for jet fighter aircraft and part of its domestic airline fleet, is again being forced to rely on the West for international air transport equipment.
