Windsor Locks, Conn.—Elements of the first flight environmental control system (ECS) for the Apollo lunar excursion module (LEM) are being delivered this week to Grumman Aircraft Engineering Corp., LEM prime contractor. The system is designed to maintain pressure, temperature and relative humidity at safe and comfortable levels for two astronauts inside the LEM for a 49-hr. maximum time period.

Vienna—Soviet deep space probes are tracking optically with a technique that gives more accurate data than radio methods, a Russian scientist told the International Space Symposium here recently. The optical method was described in a report delivered by P. P. Dobronravin of the Crimean Astrophysical Observatory.
