Proposed merger of Pacific Southwest Airlines and Air California is expected to alter distinctly the competitive picture and market shares of the heavily traveled Los Angeles-San Francisco air passenger traffic corridor. If the merger is approved, Pacific Southwest Airlines would be carrying roughly 45% of the passengers between the two metropolitan areas, including satellite airports, according to local market estimates.
