N732PA was being operated on Dec. 13, by the Boeing Co., Seattle, Wash., for the purpose of ferrying the aircraft from Boeing Field, Seattle, Wash., to the Renton Airport. During an approach to a landing at Renton, the aircraft struck an embankment approximately 20 ft. short of the threshold of Runway 15.

Los Angeles—Northwest Airlines is working to implement new landing procedures that would reduce approach noise by 1-5 db. The procedure, designated by the carrier “the high flight director approach,” calls for landing jets from 0.5 to 0.75 deg. 'above the 2.5 to 3 deg. of glide slopes installed at airports.
