There is more to the current India-Pakistan war than just another chapter in the apparently endless strife between Hindu and Moslem on the subcontinent of Asia. Behind the tactical moves of the warring nations lies a major strategic thrust of the Soviet Union into southern Asia, the Indian Ocean and the Persian Gulf flank of the Middle East oil reservoirs.
