New Rates, Containers Spur Cargo Efforts
New York—Incentive container freight rates and new small-sized containers are injecting a spirit of competitiveness in cargo marketing for passenger flights, especially in the transcontinental market. American, Trans World and United airlines have recently introduced new incentive tariffs for Boeing 747 transport containers, and the use of the 747 lower deck belly containers (LD-3) has enabled these airlines to supplement passenger traffic with cargo revenue:
