B-1 Bomber Need Defended, Critics Hit

In my job, I have become very sensitive to public attitudes and to the perceptions one finds on the B-1 bomber. I track pretty closely what the media are disseminating on the B-l. Sea Trials Nearing for Patrol Hydrofoil

Seattle—Navy is preparing for sea trials this fall to evaluate the technical and operational characteristics of the lead ship of its projected fleet of speedy, lightweight, missile-firing hydrofoil patrol craft (PHM). The performance demonstrated in the forthcoming trials will have to be judged by the Navy and the Defense Dept, in the light of rising costs that have resulted in both a curtailment and a stretchout of the lead ship program and a reduction in the size of the expected fleet from 30 ships to 23.
