During the recent Paris air show we had an interesting visit with Oleg Konstantinovich Antonov who at 72 is one of the senior Soviet aircraft designers. For the past 30 years his design bureau in Kiev has specialized in a category of aircraft developed for a unique Soviet requirement—the ability to operate without airfields.

Gen. Haig Warns of Tenuous Strategic Position

Washington—U. S. will be in a tenuous position in the post-1980 era in the strategic nuclear weapons balance with the Soviet Union, according to Gen. Alexander M. Haig, Jr. He urged the U. S. to take steps to improve regional and theater nuclear and tactical forces in Western Europe.
