Iata to Attempt Change in Tariff Base

Washington —Representatives of nearly 100 international airlines are expected to meet in Geneva Mar. 24 in an attempt to change the basis for tariffs from U. S. dollars and British pounds to special drawing rights (SDRs). The change would, in effect, increase fares delineated in so-called “soft” currencies, including the U. S. dollar, and decrease fares in “hard” currencies, including German marks and many other European currencies.
