Investigators Study Crash of DC-10-30

The occurrence of this accident was notified to the Chief Inspector of Air Accidents by Air New Zealand, Ltd., at 2050 hr. New Zealand Daylight Time (GMT + 13 hr.) on Nov. 28, 1979. The state of manufacture of the airframe and engines (U. S.) was advised of the accident on that day and invited to participate in the investigation.

The commission is evaluating a report by William L. Baldwin, professor of economics at Dartmouth College, which indicates that Defense procurement possibly should be regulated to “insure it upholds and stimulates a diverse free enterprise system.”
