A combination of events and circumstances developed that put him in a stress situation with which he was unable to cope. Although the ceiling and visibility were not low, the night was dark—with no horizon—and there was considerable lightning and thunderstorm activity in the area.

London, Sept. 9—Much of the opening buzz at the Farn-borough air show surrounded the unveiling of a full-scale mockup in plastic of the agile combat aircraft, or ACA. The name is a successor to the P-110, a project in gestation at the British Aerospace facility in Warton at the time of the 1980 Famborough air show, and to German and Italian advanced fighter programs.
