VHSIC Chips Emerge
Honeywell Plans to Supply Samples Early Next Year
Minneapolis—Honeywell expects to be able to supply sample quantities of its three-chip set of very high speed integrated circuits, suitable for electro-optical sensor signal processing, by early next year to qualified customers. Honeywell already is talking with Defense Dept. contractors about custom microcircuits that can be designed quickly using its library of 42 different VHSIC macrocells, some of which contain as many as 2,500 gates, according to Henry Mar, program director for the Phase 1 effort.
