Reagan’s $303.3-Billion Defense Request Sets Real Growth at 3%

Washington—The Reagan Administration has submitted to Congress a defense spending package that calls for $303.3 billion in total obligational authority and $289.3 billion in outlays for Fiscal 1988, a significant reduction from previous longterm projections and a reflection of the Pentagon’s efforts to respond to congressional concerns about the federal deficit.
