Hubble Deployment Crew to Undertake Extensive High-Altitude Earth Studies

WASHINGTON The shuttle Mission 31 astronauts will undertake the most extensive high-altitude Earth studies in nearly 25 years of U. S. manned flight following deployment of the Hubble Space Telescope. The telescope deployment, scheduled for next week, is to take place at a record shuttle altitude of 330 naut. mi.—nearly 400 stat. mi. high (AW&ST Mar. 26, p. 38).

Three Tiger Versions Offered In U. K. Helicopter Competition

MARIGNANE, FRANCE Europe’s Eurocopter consortium has proposed three versions of its Tiger antitank/support helicopter in the British competition for an army combat helicopter. The Eurocopter companies—Aerospatiale of France and West Germany’s Messerschmitt-Boelkow-Blohm—have aligned themselves with Britain’s Westland to enter the Tiger in the United Kingdom combat helicopter competition.
