Ilyushin Group Seeks Partners For Two New Aircraft Programs

HANNOVER The Ilyushin Design Bureau is seeking partners to develop a regional/business transport as well as a four-seat, piston-engine aircraft for primary trainer and general aviation applications. These two new programs, if approved, would broaden Ilyushin’s activity base at a time when the design bureau faces the Soviet Union’s post-perestroika (restructuring) business challenges of the 1990s.

Sikorsky Tests Proof-of-Concept RPV That Uses Coaxial Rotor Technology

STRATFORD, CONN. Sikorsky Aircraft has tested a proof-ofconcept remotely piloted vehicle whose design is based on coaxial rotor technology explored by the company in the early 1970s. The doughnut-shaped, shrouded, coaxially bladed RPV is the first application of the technology in the U. S. since Sikorsky flew the advancing blade concept XH59A helicopter in 1973.
