United Kingdom Takes Key Role in Attacks Against Iraqi Targets

CENTRAL SAUDI ARABIA Britain’s Royal Air Force has taken an active role in Operation Desert Storm, performing day/night attacks on targets ranging from Iraqi airfields to Scud storage sites and Silkworm missile launchers. Approximately 2,500 RAF sorties were flown during the first three weeks of the war, a total that encompasses combat and reconnaissance missions, as well as aerial refueling and other support flights.
