Although attendees showed much interest in the products and services offered by vendors, suppliers and manufacturers at Dallas last week, the overall mood was one of conservatism and reluctance to buy.

MODEL 45 FILLS LEARJET VOID

DALLAS Learjet Inc.'s Model 45 business jet introduced here last week is scheduled to make its first flight in fall, 1994, followed by certification and initial deliveries in 1996. The aircraft, which retains traditional Learjet appearance but was designed "from a clean sheet of paper," is intended to fill a void between the company's entry-level Model 31A and the mid-size cabin Model 60, Brian E. Barents, president and chief executive officer of Learjet, said.

TAIWAN FIGHTER SALES PLANS CURB CHINA TRANSPORT DEALS

HONG KONG Chinese ire over planned U. S. and French weapons sales to Taiwan is delaying the near-term sale and lease of up to $4 billion worth of new Western transports to the mainland's airlines. The Chinese government threatened to cancel new orders of French-assembled Airbus or U. S.-made Boeing and McDonnell Douglas transports if either country sold major weapon systems to arch-rival Taiwan.
