Industry Shifts Emphasis for 40th Paris Air Show

PARIS The U. S. Defense and Commerce departments will reevaluate U. S. military participation in the June 11-20 40th Paris air show to counter Russian domination of the event. Show officials received a request from the U. S. Embassy in Paris to check availability of static display slots for a list of about 10 U. S. military aircraft that included the Grumman E-2C Hawkeye carrier early warning aircraft and McDonnell Douglas' F-15E and F/A-18 fighters.

Five-company Group Eyes New Launcher

WASHINGTON Five U. S. aerospace companies have joined to study a common commercia1 approach for a new launcher that could succeed America's current fleet of aging boosters. The companies—Boeing, General Dynamics, Lockheed, Martin Marietta and Rockwell—held an initial meeting in March, and received enthusiastic support from NASA Administrator Daniel Goldin when they briefed him Apr. 30.
