U.S. Navy Defends F-14 Upgrade Plans

WASHINGTON The Navy expects to complete a study by the end of the summer identifying the most cost-effective mix of weaponry and sensors to employ on its upgraded F-14s, but the program continues to face congressional opposition. Rear Adm. Brent Bennitt, head of the Navy's Air Warfare Div., told AVIATION WEEK & SPACE TECHNOLOGY that the Navy is looking at a number of alternatives to meet the air-to-ground weapon requirements for the F14.

Dayton Show Targets Commercial Aerospace

WASHINGTON United States Air & Trade Show (USATS) officials expect about 100 companies to display their products at this year's event and have sold more than 70% of the 300 inside exhibit spaces and all but four of the 26 outside chalets. "We are doing extremely well" with seven weeks remaining before the show begins on July 20, Henry M. Ogrodzinski, president of the USATS, said.
