Greek EW Award

WASHINGTON The Greek defense ministry has awarded a $242-million contract to Raytheon for an advanced version of an integrated electronic warfare system for the Hellenic Air Force’s Block 52+ F-16s. Called the Advanced Self-Protection Integrated Suite (ASPIS-II), the system is an enhanced version of the 80 ASPIS systems Greece purchased in the early 1990s for its Block 30 and Block 50 F-16s (AW&ST Mar. 8, 1993, p. 51).

Record for Rocket Sled

COLORADO SPRINGS and LOS ANGELES A rocket sled propelled a 192-lb. Missile Defense Agency payload to Mach 8.41 (9,465 fps.) at Holloman AFB, N.M., on Apr. 29, setting a world’s land speed record. The test run also capped Holloman’s five-year, $20-million Hypersonic Upgrade Program, which significantly improved the 26-in.-gauge, high-speed track’s hypersonic-testing capabilities in support of an upcoming missile defense warhead program.

GENEVA Barely weeks after its inaugural flight, Swiss-based startup Club Airways is already contemplating additions to its new membership-type corporate shuttle network. The airline, which began operating in February, provides twicedaily round trips between Geneva and Paris Le Bourget, London Farnborough and Cannes Mandelieu on the French Riviera to individual or corporate members, using Learjet 45s provided by Bombardier Flexjet Europe.
