Cessna Aims Citation at Turboprop Market

Wichita, Kan.-Cessna’s new twin-turbofan Citation is an easy-handling, simpleto-fly aircraft that combines field-length capabilities of light turboprop aircraft with turbojet cruise speeds. The Citation, first of the lower-price/medium-performance turbofan-powered airplanes to appear on the world market, could develop as the major competitor to today’s 6-10 place turboprop aircraft.

Army Tests Helicopter Satcom Use

Recent tests have demonstrated the feasibility of satellite communications for helicopters, using an antenna mounted atop the rotor mast to avoid signal modulation by the rotating blades. Tests were conducted at both ultrahigh-frequencies (UHF) and super-highfrequencies (X band), using different antennas for each mounted on an Army/ Bell UH-1D helicopter.
