Viet Mine Clearing Keyed to Helicopters

Washington—Mine clearing operations in North Vietnam’s Haiphong Harbor and six other ports will center on helicoptertowed unmanned hydrofoil sea sleds and other aerodynamically designed minesweeping equipment. While some elements of the Navy’s Task Force 78 continued training at Subic Bay in the Philippines in final preparation stages last week, four minesweepers cleared an area 35 naut. mi. southeast of Haiphong as an anchorage for the force.

Dc-10 Twin Production Decision Nearing

Long Beach, Calif.—McDonnell Douglas Corp. is completing detailed price and delivery schedule studies of the twin-engine DC-10 transport for presentation to prospective airline customers within the next three weeks. Aim of the current marketing effort is to generate sufficient orders to launch full development of the twin-engine version of the DC-10-10 trijet by July.
