Paris—Boeing and McDonnell Douglas are homing in on the prospective 1,500-aircraft 707/DC-8 replacement market in the 1980s, but they are beginning to diverge on the means of getting there. Studies and surveys by both aircraft manufacturers are bracketing the same general size range centered around 200 passengers.

U. S. Pushes Sales at Paris Pavilion

Paris—Heavy infusion of direct and indirect Commerce Dept. support helped attract an estimated 40% more potential buyers to the U. S. pavilion at the Paris air show than in 1973. The daily average of solid sales prospects was running at 500 in the expanded business area of the pavilion.

Boeing Seeks Additional 7X7 Partners

Paris—Boeing is looking overseas for more partners in the 7X7 program—either those holding a minority interest like the 20% committed two years ago by Aeritalia, or those willing to become what amounted to associate contractors on the 747 program.
