Perkin-Elmer Corp. reports record sales and profits for both the third quarter and nine-month periods ended Apr. 30. Sales for the quarter were $77 million, compared with $67.5 million for the same period in fiscal 1974, and net income was $5.2 million, equivalent to 29 cents a share, compared with $4.6 million, or 26 cents a share, a year ago.

Paris—European avionics companies are pressing development of a diverse range of avionics equipment to remain competitive in a growing international market as well as to satisfy continuing national requirements. Preliminary sensor developments are under way aimed at several new aircraft programs in varying stages of evolution.

Paris Show Springboard for Israeli Sales

Paris—Israeli ministry of defense is actively pushing sales of the nation’s weapons systems and defense products to other countries, using the recent Paris air show as a launch base for contacts for up to 150 Israeli defense suppliers. The ministry has set up a special defense sales organization, called SIBAT, which has close links with Israeli defense attaches in every embassy, and with inputs also coming from Israel Aircraft Industries, the largest contractor.

. . . Lest we have become over-enamored with our RPV successes, I should mention that in 1965 we set out to develop a high-altitude RPV from scratch. The vehicle development program was originally estimated at about $35 million, but the final total system cost exceeded $210 million.
