Boeing Gears for Production of ALCM

Kent, Wash. —Boeing Aerospace Co. is advancing its new USAF air-launched cruise missile (ALCM) program on several fronts, preparing for increased production, completing support equipment development and incorporating changes sought by USAF (AW&ST Mar. 31, p. 21.) With the bulk of the engineering work and the intense competition with General Dynamics now past, program officials are shifting their focus to manufacturing, with the intent of producing the new strategic weapon as efficiently as possible at the eventual rate of 480 missiles per year.
