Monterey, Calif.—A number of states in the western U. S. are moving to acquire a capability for routinely processing Landsat imagery and digital data as a tool for dealing with planning and resource management problems. A few western states already have such systems in place.

MX Environmental Draws Criticism

Los Angeles—Release of the final environmental impact statement for the MX missile system has been delayed for more than a month due to the large number of comments received in response to the draft version of the report. The draft report, released last December, discusses potential impacts that could occur as a result of basing the advanced intercontinental ballistic missile system in the Great Basin of Utah and Nevada, the Southern High Plains region of Texas, and New Mexico or in all four states.
