Canada Approves $4.4 Billion Program to Buy 50 EH-101s for Sea, Air Operations

BOSTON The Canadian government has decided to go ahead with the acquisition of 50 EH-101 helicopters in a $4.4 billion program that will fill the country’s needs for shipboard and search-and-rescue aircraft well into the next century. The announcement by Defence Minister Marcel Masse that the cabinet had approved the EH-101 acquisition surprised many industry and military officials who had expected the review to continue through the summer.

WORTH PHILADELPHIA Investigators seeking the cause of the crash of a prototype Bell/Boeing V-22 were concentrating on the possibility that fuel starvation caused the aircraft to lose power in both engines as it was approaching a landing at the U. NEW YORK Loral Corp. will improve its financial performance through 1992 and use that strength to further expand in military and commercial markets, in part through the acquisition of key strategic assets. The proposed purchase of LTV Corp.’s missile division “does not diminish or abate our appetite [for acquisitions] in any sense,” Loral Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Bernard L. Schwartz told the corporation’s shareholders at their annual meeting here last week.
