The new maritime strategy, set forth in a white paper titled "From the Sea," provides a strategic blueprint to guide the restructuring of naval forces and future budget decisions.

ARIANESPACE SEEKS CUT IN LAUNCH INSURANCE RATES

WASHINGTON Arianespace is seeking lower insurance premiums for its Ariane 4 launcher as the organization faces new international competition and feels increased customer pressure to cut its commercial mission prices. Company managers are asking insurers to reduce premiums on Ariane 4 from the current market average of about 17% of mission cost to a new level of 15% as the result of the launcher's good service record over the past several years.
