F119 Versatility Challenged By JSF Requirements

NEW YORK Pratt & Whitney F119 engines sharing a common core will power the four JSF concept demonstrator aircraft, but the powerplants’ fans and main engine exhaust nozzles will differ to support specific aircraft configurations. Pratt will supply engines and support to Boeing and Lockheed Martin for their JSF concept demonstrators under a $900million contract expected to be signed in a few weeks.
